Milwaukee ruined the Trail Blazers chance at a win in Carmelo Anthony’s Portland debut. Anthony was 4 of 14 from the floor, scoring 10 points and pulling down 4 rebounds in 24 minutes of action.

Atlanta tried to rally in the fourth quarter by scoring 44 points. The Hawks used a 13-1 run to cut Milwaukee’s lead to 126-119 with 2:10 left on a basket by DeAndre’ Bembry. But Milwaukee’s Sterling Brown emerged from a timeout to hit a 3-pointer and re-establish a double-digit lead.

The Hawks never again got closer than seven.

The loss was the fourth straight for Atlanta, which returned home after going 1-4 on a West Coast road trip.

Atlanta was led by rookie De’Andre Hunter, who scored a career-high 27 points — 11 more than his previous best — and a career-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. He was perfect on three 3-point attempts.

Trae Young added 25 points and eight assists, and rookie Cam Reddish scored a career-high 17 points.

Milwaukee wasted an early 10-point lead but was on top 34-26 after one quarter. Rookies Hunter and Reddish subsequently paced the Hawks to a 61-58 halftime lead. Milwaukee scored 38 points in the third quarter for a 96-83 lead.

Milwaukee completes a back-to-back by playing at home on Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers. Atlanta plays again on Friday when it visits the Detroit Pistons. The Portland Trail Blazers continue their six-game road trip against the Milwaukee Bucks following a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans 115-104. Carmelo Anthony made his debut for the Blazers, scoring 10 points, while CJ McCollum led the team with 22 points. Hassan Whiteside notched a double-double, with 14 points to match 14 rebounds. Damian Lillard sat out the game with back spasms.

The Milwaukee Bucks take on the Blazers after a win against the Atlanta Hawks 135-127. The game against the Hawks marked the last in a three-game road swing. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 33 points alongside 11 rebounds, while Eric Bledsoe had 28 points. Antetokounmpo, who has picked up a three-point shot, shot 1-of-6 from beyond the arc.The Portland Trail Blazers have failed to live up to lofty expectations throughout the first few weeks of the regular season. The team that played in the Western Conference finals last season is now in second-last place in the conference with just five wins in 15 games. Things won’t get any easier on Thursday when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks. The Blazers will again be without star point guard Damian Lillard, which figures to make life quite challenging for them in this spot.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Portland is 4-6 on the road this season, with a 5-5 record against the spread in those contests. The Trail Blazers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games against opponents from the Central Division. However, Portland is just 1-6 ATS versus good offensive teams scoring 106+ points per game this season.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee is 3-1 SU at home and 2-2 ATS. The Bucks are dealing with a tight turnaround after clashing with the Atlanta Hawks. However, Milwaukee was 11-5 ATS in its last 16 games against opponents with a winning percentage below .400 heading into that contest. The Bucks are also 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against Northwest Division opponents.

Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers started their road trip on a promising note when they beat the San Antonio Spurs 121-116 on Saturday night. However, Portland followed that victory up with back-to-back double-digit losses to the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans. Now they head to Milwaukee for the fourth of their six-game trip and they’ll again be without Lillard. While the travel schedule hasn’t been kind to the Trail Blazers, the reality is that their own depth has been their biggest issue. Carmelo Anthony had 10 points and four rebounds in his debut versus Houston while going four-of-14 from the field. He could potentially give them another capable body but it’s hard to imagine him being anything more than a fourth or fifth scoring option on their roster at this point in his career. This move reeks of desperation as the Trail Blazers are flailing.

Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks have hit their groove over the past two weeks with eight wins in their previous nine games entering Wednesday’s matchup with the Hawks. Now, Milwaukee returns home for four in a row beginning with a home date against the Trail Blazers. Giannis Antetokounmpo has led the way with 30.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game this season. Meanwhile, Eric Bledsoe and George Hill have both stepped up with Khris Middleton sidelined by a thigh injury. Bledsoe is averaging 18.9 points per game this month while shooting 50.4% from the field. Even without Middleton, Milwaukee has enough talent to win this game outright.

The Bucks are in a back-to-back but the Trail Blazers have been bad this season and are on the road. Add in the loss of Lillard and it’s tough to see how Portland competes in this spot.
